Photo Backlog: Pre Christmas

In an attempt to catch up on a mass of old photos, I give you this disorganized post. These are pictures I took before Christmas, including some Thanksgiving shots, the ice storm and dog sitting. These are the posts that my family love, so family, read on. Let's start with some Hannah portraits.

She can turn on a dime!

Man, look at the determination on that little face! Good luck with her once she figures out walking, brother!

The ice storm that hit Milford the middle of December. I always love ice storms and how beautiful the trees look coated in glass. I never feel like they photograph as gloriously as they look in real life.

I dog sat for Luke in December and these are a few still life shots from the house. What a house, right?

And of course, the master of the house, Luke!

Mia, Meaghers & Muffins, oh my!

I've once again fallen behind on my blog. Thanksgiving was a busy holiday with my mom being on the disabled list and last week at the office was hectic with a member of my department on vacation. The first couple of pictures speak for themselves, but the last one might have you scratching your head a bit. Let me tell you about recipes...

I've got this issue with reading recipes from my mother's cookbook, which is super ironic because I'm the one that wrote them all out. Granted, I was 12 or something at the time, but my mom liked my handwriting, so there you go. There was an incident that my family still likes to tell about the first time I tried to make chocolate chip cookies. My parents were coming home from vacation, so my oldest brother suggested I make cookies for them. He brought me all the ingredients, gave me the recipe book and left me alone in the kitchen. Biiiiiig mistake. I called him in about a half hour later asking him if he knew where mom kept the extra salt. He looked at me incredulously, "How did you use up all that salt?" I replied that the recipe called for four cups of salt. I went to point this out, and realized that I had skipped a line. It should've been four cups of flour, only about a teaspoon of salt. Whoopsie! There was no way to salvage those cookies.

20 years later, I still can't follow recipes. I ended up having to double the batch of corn muffins to make things better, but it all worked out in the end. Can you guess the one thing that James decided to eat for Thanksgiving? That's right. A corn muffin.

To this day, I don't add salt to any recipe. I learned my lesson!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Is there anything better than a Laser Background Turkey Portrait? No. No, there is not.

Wishing all of my readers and the rest of the internet a relaxing Thanksgiving. I'm lead chef for the first time as my mother recuperates from carpal tunnel surgery.

Talk about a bad ass cast! The bird is in the oven, only the side dishes remain. I just might make it.

I was thinking about Thanksgivings of the past; many were spent freezing my butt off at high school football games. Whether I was part of the marching band performing at half time, covering the game for one of the 19 papers I work for or lending my gloves to the poor girl that just moved to Connecticut from Hawaii (I still think you're a fool and I WANT MY GLOVE BACK!!!) I'm happy to be spending this Thanksgiving at home, cooking. James has the main photographer duties, so I'm sure there will be some fun pictures to share.

Be safe and enjoy your time with family and friends.
